Marco Polo's Silk Purse. by Gerry Bailey and Karen Foster - Aliyah did not like this story , and was going to quit reading it - So I asked to read it and write down the parts in the story that she did not like.
Here is what she wrote:
Why I don't like the book.
*They think he (Marco Polo) is superstitious because he recorded in is diary things that other travelers told him including odd myths and tall tales.
*They think Marco was lying when he said "empty desert full of poisonous waters, as green as gross" because after they wrote that they said :In fact, the water was probably just unusually salty and undrinkable.
*They think that the cannibals he wrote about in his diary was not true.

Writing:
*A cryptogram (a short message about Marco Polo)

*Criss Cross Puzzle Travel during times of Marco Polo...

*The travels of Marco Polo...(reading the story and answering questions)

Writing Prompt:
Imagine that you are a modern day Marco Polo. You don't have to travel to someplace very far away! If you've ever taken a trip to another country, state or even city, you know that you saw many things that were different from what you were used to at home. Tell about a place that you have been including descriptions of the people and sights of that place, to someone who hasn't been there. Imagine that you are describing these things for the first time...
